Manage Domains
Sometimes, you need to point to multiple domain names on a single site/application. Technically, the "www" version of your domain name is also an "alias" domain of your main domain.
Managing domains lets you:
- Add domains – Attach more domain names to an application so they all serve the same site.
- Set a primary domain – Choose which domain is the main one.
- Remove domains – Detach a domain when you no longer want it to point to this application.
Here’s how to manage domains for an application.
Step 1: Log in to your ServerAvatar account and click the Server Dashboard button for the server that hosts the application.
Step 2: In the server’s left sidebar, click Applications, then open the application by clicking its name or the Application Dashboard icon.
Step 3: You’ll see the Application Domains table listing all domains currently attached to this application.
Add a domain
To add a new domain, click Add a Domain.
Enter the full domain name (e.g. www.example.com or shop.example.com) in the field and click Add. The domain is added to the application and will appear in the Application Domains table.
After adding, the new domain shows in the table. If you use automatic SSL, the certificate will be updated to cover the new domain.
Set primary domain
One domain per application can be marked as the primary domain.
To set a domain as primary, click the radio button next to that domain in the Application Domains table. The selected domain becomes the primary domain for the application.
Remove a domain
To stop a domain from pointing to this application, click the delete (trash) icon next to the domain in the Application Domains table. The domain is removed from the application. You can add it again later if needed.
You can have as many domains as you need for any application. Add, change primary, or remove domains anytime from Applications -> Application Dashboard -> Application Domains.
